Hi All,

I hope everyone is enjoying Spring (finally, right).  It has been a crazy, hectic, wonderful Spring for Fabuluxe Events.  I have had the pleasure of working “behind the scenes” with a couple of fantastic professionals and I can’t believe I never did this before.  It was amazing, enlightening, chaotic, wonderful and so much more.

First, I worked with one of our favorite photographers as an assistant to her on a family photo shoot at the beach.  Holy Cow!  Photography equipment weighs a ton! (especially when carrying it through the sand).   I learned so much about shadows and light and reflections from the buildings and the water.    The other thing I learned, is that getting people together for group photos is like herding cats, especially when there are children involved.  No wonder our photographers limit the number of group shots before and after the wedding!

Second, I worked behind the scenes with a favorite caterer at a very exclusive wedding on Palm Beach.  OMG, the caterer’s job is unbelievably difficult.  It all looks so perfect to the guests and everyone at the “front of the house,”  but it is a carefully orchestrated dance of people, timing, organization, prep, cooking, warming and so much more in the kitchen.  That does not even count the set up that is involved in placing the tables, setting the tables with the appropriate linens, china, flatware, crystal, glassware and doing while the florist is setting up the centerpieces.  Bars have to be created and stocked.    Then there is the task of serving the meals and keeping drinks full and clearing the tables and finally clean up.  It is a long, long day!

Lastly, I got to observe 2 well-known wedding planners and how they work.  There are so many things that we all do the same way and things that we do differently.

All of these events were the most incredible learning experiences!  Every planner should work behind the scenes with the other wedding trades.  It made me understand, even more, the importance of constant communication with everyone involved with the wedding day.  It made me realize that even the best of the best have things go wrong during the day…it is how you respond to those things that sets you apart.

With that said, I will say that I am so proud of our team, how we handle the wedding day and the absolutely fantastic service we provide to each and every one of our clients, other wedding professionals, and more.
